Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We believe in being upfront and transparent about pricing. Tuition is the same for all ages and is $1,100 per month.

Families may also add extended care (before and after the school day) for an additional $120 per month.

We are licensed for children ages 2.5 to 6 years old.

The earliest day that a child can attend The Apple Seed is the date 6 months after their 2nd birthday.

Children stay with us until they enter kindergarten, whether at age 5 or age 6.

We are a year-round school.

During the traditional "school year," we align our calendar with Hamilton County Schools for holidays and breaks. In the summer, we close for Memorial Day, Juneteenth, and 1 summer vacation week on the week of July 4.

Special note: In 2026, we will not close for a summer vacation week so soon after our opening. We will only close on the days of Juneteenth and July 4.

The Apple Seed is a full day preschool and childcare program, open Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:30pm.

Our school day is from 8:00am to 3:00pm. Families have the option of extended hours in the mornings and afternoons.

We use Montessori principles to create a calm, structured preschool environment where children build the skills they need for kindergarten and everyday life. Through hands-on materials and meaningful work, children develop independence, focus, and problem-solving skills at their own pace. Teachers guide each child individually, helping them grow confidence and readiness for both school and real-world experiences.

Typically, we will be outside a minimum of 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. Our outside space will function as an outdoor preschool classroom, with science, math, art, building, practical life, and fine and gross motor elements included.

We provide: morning snack, afternoon snack, milk and water for lunch. Water is available to students at all times.

Families provide: A low sugar packed lunch.

We set aside time for reclining rest each day, as required by licensing regulations. Many older preschoolers outgrow the need to nap, and that’s ok! We ask them to rest quietly while others have the chance to fall asleep, and we make accommodations for them to work quietly for the remainder of rest time.

No. You can count on your child’s full day at The Apple Seed being screen free.

We believe that behavior is communication and that young children are still developing the skills they’ll need to express themselves calmly. These principles, along with our core belief that children deserve to be treated with respect, guide all of our interactions, including when undesirable behaviors present themselves. We intervene to stop behaviors that are unsafe or disruptive, and it’s equally important that we examine what led to the behavior and how the child can be better supported. We communicate openly with families when these issues occur and work together on solutions.

We  know that all children have unique experiences and develop at their own  rates. No matter what skills your child has mastered, we will identify the next steps in their learning and guide them forward.

Children do not have to be toilet  trained to enroll.

Yes. We are an inclusive preschool community.

Our team has experience supporting a range of developmental and medical needs, including children who require feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and type 1 diabetes management.

We know every child is unique, and we work closely with families to understand their child’s needs and ensure consistency between home and school. When helpful, we will partner with your outside therapists or care providers.

If your child has specific medical or developmental needs, we encourage you to reach out so we can talk through what support would look like and determine together whether our environment meets your child's needs.

Everyone  is enrolled full time, but how often your child attends is up to you.  We encourage attending all 5 days, but if you prefer to keep your child  at home a few days per week or to have them attend for half days  (leaving at noon,) that's ok!

The rationale: Children, even more than adults, need routine in their lives. Becoming accustomed to a  routine calms children, especially those who may tend to experience  anxiety (including separation anxiety.) Attending preschool 2 or 3 days per week can be more stressful than attending 5 days per week. We have seen this lack of a predictable routine actually create anxiety in children who were not  previously displaying signs of feeling anxious. As adults, we know how  hard it is to come back to work on a Monday after a relaxing weekend. It is equally difficult for children to come to school every other day. Attending every weekday means that children make friends more quickly, learn the classroom routine more quickly, form stronger bonds with teachers, and generally feel more at ease in school. Attending daily is  an important component in adjusting to school life and readiness for kindergarten.

If you haven't visited us in person, we recommend scheduling a tour.
